What stands out to me most in this article are the statistics of the amount of people who are malnourished While 13% of the adults in the world are under the obese category. It is very clear that food is not distributed evenly throughout the population and hunger could easily be avoided by distribution of goods evenly through the world market.

The number of people who are suffering from hunger has been steadily decreasing over the past decade. The article cites conflict and climate change as the main drivers of the increase of people suffering from hunger. These factors can both affect the production and distribution of food to vulnerable populations. Climate change is expected to influence weather patterns, potentially making areas unsuitable for agriculture in areas which currently face severe water scarcity. Natural disasters such as drought can also contribute to a rise in conflicts over food and water. In my opinion, we should work toward eradicating hunger by dramatically increasing the funding of public and private agricultural research and development to develop suitable solutions to increase food production and the ability of agriculture to adapt to changing environmental conditions.

As of now, there are 815 million people that are hungry, which is putting many kids at risk of malnutrition. It has increased 38 million people more than the previous year because of the violent conflicts and climate related shocks. 155 million children under the age of 5 are too short for their age and 52 million children are suffering because their weight is to low for their height. While looking at the Key Numbers section the fact that sticks out the most to me is the overall number of people that are hungry which is 815 million, but that number includes 520 million is Asia, 243 million in Africa and 42 million people in Latin America and the Caribbean. Another fact that stood out to me was the one that said 489 million out of the 815 million people that are struggling with hunger are affected by conflict. In my opinion, to help hunger issues and malnutrition in other countries I believe that other countries like the Americas should help these struggling countries with their food security.

World hunger is on the rise as a result of violent conflicts and climate related shocks. 11% of people are affected by world hunger. 38 million more are affected by hunger than the year before.

11% of the world is effected by hunger issues. Although 11% doesn't seem like to much, if you really think about that its way higher than looks. Millions of people wonder how they are going to get there food every night or if they will even eat at all. This problem has been becoming worse as time goes on, health issue are a major result from not eating properly.

815 million people affected with 520 million just in asia alone is a scary through knowing 520 million people are starving or malnourished. but hopefully with the UN meetings to try and end world hunger anywhere by 2030 will actually work so those 815 million people can actually get the right foods they need. but it also have to do with climate change and unless the countries with food problems do come together and everyone sorts out its differences the 2030 plan will not work. The only way we can end world hunger is if the world leaders come together and put aside there differences and fix an issue that affects 815 million people

If all the wealthier countries from around the world helped out the less wealthy countries is it possible to have the people come out of hunger at a more rapid rate?

World hunger has affected 815 million people world wide. Hunger has increase by 38 million people. 155 million kids are stunted which means they are too short for there age. 52 million people are wasting food which doesn't help with people who need the food to eat. Also there is a problem with being overweight by the adults eating more than the others.

I am surprised that 11 percent of children are going hungry while 41 million children are overweight. If the world would just share their resources and not be so greedy this would not be such a big issue.

Its crazy that over half a billion people are affected by world hunger in just Asia alone

If the wealthier countries helped out the 815 million people that are affected by world hunger world hunger would start going down

its crazy 155 million kids under 5 suffer from stunted growth

Its crazy to believe that 1/8 of Asia is going hungry, because you don't really think of them you mainly look at Africa, yet people still waste food. The only big way to fix this for the almost 1 billion people from starving is to gather and get the leaders of the world to help.

I knew that world hunger was starting to decrease in some country's but its a shock to see it go back up again after such great advancements.

I am surprised that Asia has 520 million hungry people compared to Africa, which is 243 million people. I was surprised by this because I've always heard that Africa had the most hungry people in the world.

Its bad enough that world hunger is rising again, and its even worse that we didn't solve it before when it was lower

Its crazy that some 155 million children aged under five are stunted (too short for their age).

Anonymous said...

we could eradicate hunger by not wasteing food

It's really sad how kids and adults are being starved because there's not enough food or they don't have enough money to pay for food.

I can't believe that 13% of all adults in the world are obese.

I was surprised that Asia has mare hungry people than Africa dose. Asia has 520 million and Africa has only 243 million.

Its sad to see how in 2016, 815 million people were suffering from hunger. Around 155 million kids under five are struggle from hunger, and since there hungry their height stunted, and there way under weight. Asia is definitely been hit the hardest with 520 people hungry.World huger is going down in the world but some people would never know because the news has only really shared the bad parts of it.

In the world, we produce enough food to feed everyone. The main problem, not "climate change", is all the stupid, frivolous, tiny wars.
